Livecoding session: Building a video catalog browser

The video catalog browser is typically composed of content shelves, where all types of discovery strategies are mixed, such as “trending content”, “continue watching”, or “recommended for you”. Your ability to implement and try various strategies is essential to maximizing your platform engagement.

In this live coding session, Eunice Lee (Manager, Solutions Engineering at Algolia) and Alphonse Bouy (Demo Engineer) will be building a catalog browser using Algolia. We will demonstrate how you can use our API and dashboard settings to configure indexing and ranking discovery strategies for each content shelf. You will also learn how to use our open source front-end library, InstantSearch.js, to quickly build and customize the look and feel of the interface. By the end of this session, you will be amazed by how straightforward it is to develop an experience on par with any online giant, while accommodating ongoing editorial needs.
